Description:
This video features two live deer that are featured in Larry Zach's painting "Big City Bucks". See the painting at http://www.zachwildlifeart.com. UPDATE: This video footage is a bit shaky because it was taken with a handheld camcorder at a high magnification. It shouldn't keep you from seeing how huge the buck is! Story behind the video: Both deer in the Big City Bucks painting were captured on videotape late in October of 1998. This video was taken in an old residential area, south of Grand Avenue, in Des Moines, Iowa near Terrace Hill, the governor's mansion. The first buck in the video is a smaller bodied buck with an enormous non-typical rack. Notice the mowed lawn and street light. This is the buck in the foreground of the Big City Bucks painting. At the time the non-typical was being videotaped the big ten point was across the street with a doe. If you look close you may notice that the non-typical buck is limping as he walks off, possibly the result of a disagreement over which buck would get the doe. The second deer in the video is a huge bodied buck, carrying a large 10 point rack. As he starts to walk off you will notice a vehicle and house in the background. This is the buck running in the background of the Big City Bucks painting. |
