Thanks for posting that posibility now it makes sense. Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Impa, and Nabooru (sp?) are ALL from the LIVING WORLD, and became sages in the CHAMBER OF SAGES. However we do not see Rauru in the living world as himself, we see him as an owl.

He cannot be Rauru, the Sage of Light, because he exists 7 years in the future still. I think it is the spirit of the Great Deku Tree, which died shortly before you meet this owl for the first time.

Exactly! I remember I read on Wikipedia that when it said "Kaepora Gaebora could just be an incarnation of the other sages," but we already saw those other sages in the real world (as in not in the chamber of sages, light temple, sacred realm), so it obviously points to Rauru :)

Hmmm...i never thought of it like that?? i actually heard that rumor from the gossip stones too, and i never put those two clues together the lighthearted and sage clues????, actually if you think about it Rauru is the only sage you really dont see that much throughout the game which doesnt make since cuz all of the sages play an important role in this game one way or another and not to mention he kinda looks like rauru too cuz hes brown and so is Rauru and their both wise i guess you could say!

Another myth is that the the owl in ocarina of time was originally the sage of the sky temple which was removed from the final cut of the game. so im guessing they kept the owl in the game as just a character that tells you stuff you already know lol =P
