THE LEGEND OF JOHNNY NUMBERS
Johnny had come along perhaps a score ago
He was born back then and since that time his numbers, they did grow
He brought up many topics that others would take in
And no matter how it ended up, they all would talk of sin
And like an old gunslinger, he'd be sought to draw his gun
Some kept it all in humor but some did not know what was fun
When some were in that old saloon, they thought him very rude
To them, he seemed one sided, they'd try and change his mood
But one by one they'd go down, they thought themself unique
Until they too would come to know, their pride he did not seek
The others at the tables, with their drinks in hand
Would watch with silent laughter as he'd be the one left to stand
Every week a stranger would prance on into town
And think he'd be so different to take old Johnny down
In time some did see the purpose of his goal
Some took longer to see this, they played their foolish roll
I was not unique myself, we once stared each other down
But when night had turned into day we both had come around
Some think this man is angry, some think that he's a fool
But if they really knew him they'd see that he is cool
Just like a smart old spider, he'd weave himself a web
Someone would always walk right in, another foolish reb
Johnny Numbers made his fame perhaps a thousand times
A score or more that number, but never on his dime.
Some got to know the true man, the ones he knew as friends
They knew of all his smiles and good sense.
Johnny saved his bullets, he'd use the same one twice,
And his words were polished, he always dressed so nice.
And those who will remember and perhaps have even learned
That to truly know a man of character is something that is earned.
Johnny Numbers vanished, no one knows for sure
Some say he's dead, some living, he left us in allure
Legend has it that he can be seen just like a ghost
They say he walks the graveyard here by his marker post
Let he who may have wisdom, within the harshy din
May hear him yet just whistlin' like a nomad in the wind.

Well, Thanks Ricky, great job! I saw on the forum where A1 had passed. I don't think I talked to him much but he always seemed nice. I miss talking to you!! you better keep in touch! Sometimes you seemed to be the only one I could talk to..Glad to see you!

Glad you remembered and enjoyed the video.
I thought having this downloaded to make it something to post would be a nice tribute to A1 who recently passed away. He was a talented musician and will be missed. My friend Ricky did the work on the download here and did an excellent job, which I greatly appreciated. Stay well. You were one of the first posters on a forum I got to know some years back, so it was real nice to see you post to this here.
