Man O' War and all of those other horses were great, but nothing compared to Secretariat, his Belmont win a time of 2:24 31 lengths, he beat the time by 3 seconds, no horse in HISTORY has come within 3 lengths of his 31 length win. I never heard of Man O' War doing something like that, and the Belmont is like 1 1/2 miles isn't it? Now breed for precocious speed due to profit motive and it's killing horses. Lot of articles since Barbaro tragedy. In Sec's day still bred for soundness & stamina. Read they actually breed for LESS bone & more MUSCLE= lightness=speed, more fractures=more meds so horse will run past weakness and break legs.
