Calvin was not responsible for Street Sense's defeat. The horse thought the race was over after he passed everyone else at the eighth pole

i agree, Street Sense got a lot of talent, he is about 12lenghts off the lead around the far turn in fast preakness, that is hard stuff, and Curlin too got a lot of talent i can't wait to see these two gives us another showdown.

Borel didn't move early on Street Sense. Watch his previous races,he makes his around the far turn. This horse has shown a tendency to wait a bit on horses when he strikes the front. His last workout in preparation for the Jim Dandy or the Haskell,he went 57 2/5,going his final 1/8 in 10 seconds. This is how top horsemen get a horse to finish, teach him to run all out to the wire. This horse has the talent to be great!

Can't argue with any of that. I don't think Curlin is a super horse, yet. The filly is a freak. She had the best filly trainer in TP, the best filly rider in JV and 5 less pounds and she was superbred for that distance..and she was fresh. But I really can't argue with any of your points. With Invasor being retired, they should breed Curlin with RTR for the next super horse.

I think I'll go with Borel on this one. He may have moved a little early, but like Calvin said once he made the clear lead his horse lost some focus, some horses do this and that is a fact

I agree SS got a great trip in Derby, After Curlin won the Preakness running a somewhat "green" race, I expected a huge Belmont, then the filly beat him and the filly had a much tougher trip than Curlin, and that pace was quite surprising almost resembled a turf race.

Of course, if one, just one of those 15 or so horses block Street Sense on the rail at the Derby... SS got an absolute dream trip. Curlin on the other hand got pinched at the start and had to come 5-6-7 wide down the stretch and still got up for third after he checked up about 3 or 4 times. To me when head to head Curlin came from behind and walked him down...that's enough for me to think Curlin is the better horse.
