When I first starting writing songs I seriously thought some of the first songs I wrote would be nominated for Song of the Year. Now I go back and listen to earlier stuff and realize how elementary it was, even though I thought it was the best shit ever. Writing a song is no easy task. We Belong Together has a strange hook that wouldn't seem like a hook (even Mariah said so) so I guess I was going for that feel.
