jascha heifetz peter tchaikovsky violin concerto first movement fritz reiner symphony orchestra carnegie hall classical
Description: Jascha Heifetz plays Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35: I. Allegro moderato *NOTE: This was from a movie, so Heifetz skips a LOT of the first movement due to time constraints. He skips nearly half of the piece, and so does the orchestra. So please don't ask for second or third movements because I do not have them. You also get to see a bit of Heifetz acting at the end. A great treat! Conductor: Fritz Reiner This is my favorite rendition of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. I think Heifetz played a bit faster than in his recording. |

| Sviolinist ::: Favorites 2008-01-16 04:00:16 How are you to say what this piece is about? There is plenty of comedy in this piece, as there is more than that. Music isn't so one dimensional that each concerto must be "comic" or "serious" in nature... And as for you being "confused" by Heifetz - well, you are one of the few. He is the great Heifetz, for **** sake. Though, I have bashed Oistrakh for fun before, actually. Just to add a poke for laughs. I like both. __________________________________________________ | |
| pianistconductor ::: Favorites 2008-01-15 13:27:15 That's a new one on me. A composer "calling for sloppiness". Where do these people come from? __________________________________________________ | |
| chienwen81 ::: Favorites 2008-01-14 22:50:11 Totally agree, some people are more "visual" than "audio". __________________________________________________ | |
| chienwen81 ::: Favorites 2008-01-14 22:48:21 Ironically, people who don't like Heifetz will never hear any emotion in his playing... __________________________________________________ | |
| numbers3934 ::: Favorites 2008-01-13 15:54:55 During this peice, i felt confused. The peice isnt about comedy, yet his over presicion makes it seem funny to me. Not to doubt Heifetz's skills, But he was way too precise where the peice called for sloppiness, which represents softness. He plays his violin with too much of accent in this peice making it confused to me. __________________________________________________ | |
| Revenantazra ::: Favorites 2008-01-13 15:34:45 I love this. I've always wanted to play violin. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be... :( __________________________________________________ | |
| bassman0202 ::: Favorites 2008-01-12 14:00:21 I don't know how anyone can say Maestro Heifetz had no emotion. Just imagine Joshua Bell thrashing around with this kind of playing / sound. Everyone would say "what emotion!" and rightly so. People mistake precision with coldness. Too bad. __________________________________________________ | |
| PoseidonRM ::: Favorites 2008-01-12 03:14:35 It IS cool to see him act at the end, but what I most marveled at (besides the playing)was that there would be 11 minutes of a concerto in the middle of a movie! See them try to pull that NOW. __________________________________________________ | |
| Aensgard ::: Favorites 2008-01-10 12:50:38 "I think they are masters of their style. " I meant "I think they are great masters, and each one of them has his own style and sound". __________________________________________________ | |
| Aensgard ::: Favorites 2008-01-10 12:45:58 What are all of you based in to say that Menuhin is better than Heifetz, or Heifetz is better other violinist, etc, etc? I think it's very childish and immature to make discussions such as this. And I'm tired to see that there's always fights of this kind in youtube. I don't think there's a violinist better than all the rest of violin players. __________________________________________________ | |
| Aensgard ::: Favorites 2008-01-10 12:45:33 This violinist has very good interpretations and has others that are not that good (if somebody could play every single piece in a way that everybody likes he would be perfect, and that isn't possible!!!), that's why sometimes I prefer Heifetz, sometimes Vengerov, or Oistrakh, or Milstein, or Francescatti, etc. If you like Menuhin or Stern or Perlman, good for you, I think they are masters of their style. __________________________________________________ | |
| ClassicalRocks ::: Favorites 2008-01-10 03:13:41 i think bickering and attacking other peoples opinion on who's the best violinist of all time is pretty silly. every player has a flaw and a strength, and its all really opinionated... P.S - bluebear95 is an uncultured moron. thats all =) __________________________________________________ | |
| bluebear95 ::: Favorites 2008-01-09 22:19:55 what is this ? is this a movie ? __________________________________________________ | |

| teunfaber ::: Favorites 2008-01-09 10:40:28 No, Heifetz is in my opinion deffinetly the greatest violinist. And after him you get maestro's like Stern, Menuhin and Oistrakh! __________________________________________________ | |
